In parallel, in recent years the digital revolution has also involved this part of the finishing of printed products. They are able to finish both digital and offset printed applications with specific foils, spot or full-board varnishes, textures with gloss or matt finish, holographic, metallic, glitter and 2D and 3D effects. A range of options that make the look&feel of book covers and catalogues, brochures, greeting cards, invitations, menus, calendars, but also simply business cards up to packaging, labels and shopping bags attractive. Available in different formats, these machines are compatible with various types of paper: coated, metallic, natural, embossed and branded; there are also dedicated cardboard systems on the market specifically for packaging. There are also digital finishing units that can be inserted in modular label printing lines capable of printing and finishing narrow web reels in a single pass, allowing considerable time savings, therefore offering advantages in terms of efficiency and productivity, especially in the case of medium and short runs. Suppliers of these technologies provide users with software suites, manuals and tutorials for preparing files with the different layers, enabling production departments of printing companies to optimally utilise the potential of digital finishing.
